Elmer's Barn & Antique Mall

One of the amazing things about the State of Maine, and people I'm talking about, not government, is the way they re-use and value discarded and thrown-off items. 50 years ago, everybody here keep their junk in the front yard so others could peruse it as they drove-by. Making a deal was high opera, as two terse forces met over the vaunted item, and still, to this day storytellers here recount the fables of Maine deal-making.

But all that has changed, and most all yard sales are temporary, one or two day events, and junkyards have been relegated to back lots, and businesses like Elmer's Barn, just twenty minutes from the capital in Augusta. A way of life changed as more and more people from away moved into Maine, forcing new zoning laws to clean-up the neighborhoods and keep Mainers from taking everything and anything for profit, as measly as it was.... Formerly Mine was a great vacationland, or hunting lands as men came up from places south, arriving in the night at L.L.Bean's 24/7 hunting store on the way to Moose country or salmon fishing.

Elmer says it best, If you need it, I've got it. And if you think he's joking get down here and check it out. Perhaps more authentic than any art museum in the state, this is it!

Creativity

The Dark Ages were for hundreds of years unchanging. Today change is so rapid because markets demand that we don't stay the same. Cars are the great metaphor of change built into a changing pattern of purchase. Now people have gone outside America for...better built, better operating, and hence, a better status symbol. I'm saying creativity has to have value, -too much creativity is meaningless. Put the ideas in the closet. Stop drinking Starbucks. We're spinning out of control. The essence of creativity demands destruction. Tearing the old way of looking at it to create a new vision of it.

What is the bottomline? A New Value to... Everything!

Now is the Time

Business as usual, and comparisons as usual don't quite draw the conclusions we can believe in. While it is finger pointing at government and business, what's on the minds of the people is the core issue. Not particularly accessible to a critic who can compare the thirties with the eighties, but we are in the 21st century. How people think, work, play and hoard is completely different. Hoarding is the great American pastime. So whatever anybody thinks, lets get the government back to it, -hoarding.
No no no, the time is for a massive re-addressing ourselves to, not the misery our news loves to print, to exporting our wealth and youth and expertise into the far corners of the world. Our pre-eminence demands that. Our gravy is our gift to others. Now is the time.
The curious contradiction we live is our support of Israel, when we live here as states bound to each other. How can we support a two state solution, when clearly we have learned to amalgamate and help-up our brother and sister.
Now is the time to NOT maintain the status quo, but create an America of sixty states, or more. We cannot help ourselves without helping others, in fact, until we become great in joining and gifting other peoples as one, and lose this hoarding mentality, we are nothing.

Conversations While Boating

Listening to tales of corruption and bureaucratic ineffectiveness while boating off Panama City, I thought America might do well if they packaged systems for basic services, to be uniform in the entire world, of licensing automobile and truck drivers. There is such a thing as weaving a better fabric, and the gain would be a compatible and defining of an entire planet with a system that would serve people in efficiency alone. Manufacturing weapon systems, waging police actions, and much more expensive programs would not be eliminated, oh no no no; but working to contrive beneficial systems would encompass all peoples. Such a project would be illuminating.

Creative Now

Versus or along with the past, the foundations of thought and intent, make up the churning cement mix of today, aurgh! Get on with it. Leave those who are stuck where they be. Or, be a missionary.

No, no. The fact is, all people are thinking about the past and the present future. It is perhaps a more psychological threshold than all the academic psych studied today. No decision is without tentacles in the past of one's life whether it be 5 minutes or five years, of fifty.

Now if we can only deal with mis-information, or influence information, infloration to be exact or consolidated.

Peggy Noonan, Obama's Domestic Agenda Gains Clarity

In the context of readers of WSJ, numbers of dollars are the stark reality that burst. I say stark because there is little more brittle than accounting numbers. If you begin and end on that note of dollars, then you are eliminating the human factor, which cannot be valued except in more dollar numbers. President Obama merely represents the diametric opposite way of thinking, yet he encompasses the dollar number mentality, while being aware of an agenda of efforts to be more mindful of human needs. WSJ cannot encompass possibility or potential change, very few people can envision the future, so the best minds in news opinion are stuck on the known measurements. Unfortunately we have mental geniuses who everybody mirrors.

Some might even call the present moment, the word of God to move towards a renewal of intent, the Obama direction, which is perceived as a wall not a way by Republicans, and this intent is a renewal of attitudes that have hard-scraped human potential for years. Bombs are a cheap way to wage a political war, and funnel money into the military industrial complex. Financial greed serves the same end.

That agenda has been attached by the people in the name of Obama, representing more than just entitlements or health care or liberal excesses. It's a funny thing about democracy of the people, the cost of redirecting and focusing on change is worth way more than the trillions of debt batted about by learned critics. The value of Obama and the future is America, in spite of dollar fears and war fears, because the future of growth is beyond the imaginations of news opinion, -it is uncharted, new territory.

We can have rapacious Wall Street, we need it to make steps, but it is over. The trillions do not belong there any longer, LA and the illusion of media is too enticing. WSJ opinion columnists can play to the hot steamy collars of the moneyed greed, but it really doesn't matter anymore. When the payback comes, it will come big time. WSJ will say they wanted it that way, but will be sunk in a tomb of skeptical numbers. The paradigm has shifted, now the clutter must be cleared for a new day.

And later,

April 4th, 2009 11:56 pm
It's time to go forward and change the world, but it's impossible. Security means power and unrelenting obsession for making money. Jesus had it easy 2000 years ago compared to the financial mindset ruling Wall Street, the corporate world, Washington lobby/government dance, secure Americans holding the change down, institutions, and virtually everything, -even the flagrant abuse of farming and the land. What's important? Nobody knows, only that the puzzle is to break it down a little so it can make sense. The gift of America is to give the world democracy and the building blocks for human decency. Good place to start. Teach it, sing it, video it, our culture has great value to give. We are, through Obama, more powerful and rich than the fake trillions everybody talks about day in day out. More potential power emanates from LA because Hollywood is more human, a pyramid of creativity (albeit a sham compared to the real thing) but more than Wall Street ever will be. We might buy/sell shares in movies, and that'd be a better investment than any bunko sold on Wall Street.

Hard information and opinion, POV, are inseparable in culture and run along on a fuel called anger, also lesser diesel fuels such as envy, sensation, etc., have power to pump up the addling machine, while idealism keeps the windows washed and clean view of the coming terrain, yet the gridlock of a whitebread society where everybody eats the genetically reduced, worthless bread often gets us stuck in the fumes of conglomeration and greed. Anger must be allowed to flash for good clean burn and the sweet joy of the ride to resume. Greed must be cut-off at the head, and tumbrel away. News has much to say about everything and nothing.

Wind, Energy, Human Energy

Today I drove about 10 miles off the main rode to Helix, NO TREES FOR 30 MILES, in the middle of high seas swells of fields, a town of 4 blocks of houses and some farm supply, then back out into the rolling swells. No water for sure. I thought how amazing to be in such beauty and NOT find it inspiring to photograph, and probably, it's the same as being on the water in a boat. Everything is still too gray, though soon.... ok ok, get out of the truck and walk on top of the earth, then see what you'll see. And, I did, to take pictures of the monumental wind turbines.

Looking to Walla Walla, WA, and Eastward at the Blues towards Idaho. There must be 1000 of these towers here.... We imagine endless energy, but where does it come from? The wind yes, some, but mostly from our industry and remarkable capacity to throw the net out and catch the fish.

I was dubious about Dowd bouncing her basketball, weaving in and out and through the legs of her adversaries, actually lunch partners, for who is the greatest celebrity maker? Doodie Dowd, love her.
If we listen to the nytimes, we might easilier drive into a brick abutment. Not that we don't love race car driving video games, just let's get these fast young guys out selling America housing to the world. Sure everybody can build, the Romans knew how to pile pagan bricks, but selling the world what we do best might be a way to feel better than you get in these pages. America went crazy on housing because it's our industry. Time is not to protect, or save the automakers, break'em up, give parts to the UAW, and re-tool for world wide housing units. Africa alone will keep us busy for years.
I take Obama seriously, he says, move on. He might take more time NOT appeasing the whiners but branch-out, change the world, and it'll do Doodie Dowd and the rest of us GOOD.

What a ridiculous precept for a nytimes column. Any person who commits to change will move forward until thwarted in these long-held states and entities of institutionalism, as well the drug producing nations, of recidivism. This does not mean in the street but how we institutionalize inequity. Abuse of the landscape by farming interests in this country needs to be addressed. Can the drought really be God's Will, and not over-grazing, for example. People need change. The French Terror was a little abrupt in the abrogation of aristocratic privileges, but it's not far from how people think about banks & wall street execs, and others. Hope reveals a New Morality. Let's address that and see how far it will go.

Enter the Media, obsessively recycling the bad, the worst, the impenetrable doom, throwing fire on the coals, and gas on the blaze, and horror and hate on the inferno. Brooks is a prophet of doom, drinks too much coffee, and can't stand the shift, a New Morality answers hope. That's the problem with change, the old guard wants it to go down....

Pay us back what? We've had it ever since Bill Clinton ushered in the era of we know better, we are better, everybody is better, and suddenly we know it better than, government by the media and not the consensus. Voting is truly passé when the media, small mind m, knows better for us. Change your doctor, change your cure, the endless mindless sabotage of opinionators selling paper. This one's the worst, like frosting on a new snow morning, the illusion is hers, not ours.

In a nation and Media that pilloried George W. Bush for acting, and commiting America to a course that seemed highly questionable, the Stimulus Bill becomes a ludicrous concept. Doubting Congress, doubting history, in fact doubting everything because of the inane intent of conviction, we forget that advert so true to life, just do it. Just do it. The human species is made to recover and excel if, we can stop questioning questions. Believing is more than half the cure, it is the cure.

"I’d personally like to see a more" open-minded Media, not so quick to lunge at negativity which plays so well in print or tv. Nowhere is there any culpability displayed for the news columnists heightening the fears and causing reaction in the public mind. Writing what's wrong is so easy, and righting the upturned cart so difficult, when the opinionators keep hammering the downside, the narrow-minded fears, and all without any opportunity to be cornered and brought to justice.

Histrionics is the tableau of politicians who are must often elected because of constituents who are passionate about their point of view. Media opinion-ators in turn love it. In short, it's one unrehab-able grease pit. The thing is, business does not emanate from congress. Congress facilitates and oversees business, where only enlightenment grows. When congress comes down with a moral tone on business, WE ARE IN TROUBLE.
The pitch line out of this mess is overseas. Not in the fifty, hence, outside of the grease pit. Obama has the World, so let's hope he doesn't lose it.

Presidents, movie stars, sports stars, etc., are always great models for us to grow-up on emulating. Black Obama cuts a special curve though, mom and grand mom were white. Fact is, black or white, Repub or Demo, man or woman, the President is a President. Coming to a place where color is not important. This President was elected because he speaks to the People with empathy. He is a true son to Bill Clinton, who spoke with empathy and raised the consciousness of many groups. He did his job, and look what happened. We outgrew him. Each President does his/her job because there is no getting out of it, even when the Press and the People hate you. It's a job. And, like most all jobs, money rules, so too will it rule President Obama.

Everything is relational, Presidential sequencing none the less, so whatever seems important to your POV is not as important as relational intelligence, or in this case, relational empathy. Good or bad, it just goes that way. Bush begot Clinton begot Bush begot Obama, or Bush begot Bush, and Clinton begot Obama, and so, on and on.... Ultimately, money rules.

An Idea Worth Working For

I have proposed that the National Park Service lease Alcatraz Island for the construction of a Vertical Farm-isphere.

More on that, a letter to Governor Schwarzenegger:

I propose a working symbol to the great state of California be constructed over the Alcatraz National Park. Just as the Golden Gate was built over a fort, the bridge does more than serve commuters, it symbolizes that in advances in effective enterprise, we must accept the new order. Alcatraz Island has a fort and a prison, but are of the past, the future belongs to innovation, and here’s the reason.

Sustainable farming has been created in the form of Vertical Farms, to be erected everywhere as flat farming reaches limitations both in available land balancing life, and destructive byproducts affecting life on earth.

If the power of creating a vision of the future now, cannot override the National Park’s prerogatives to the people, to collaborate in positioning and juxtaposition, to accommodate a powerful idea, then this ends here.

Why?

In the new age, farming technology will be the unifier of the World, and that requires leadership, and where but from the preeminent farm state in the world, California. As the new administration takes place in Washington, they will be hamstrung for some time on economic and military and Congressional issues.

While Washington, and CA, battle issues of the old order, some little vision focused here might have enough power to actually do something. The Governor’s leadership can combine resources with business to develop Vertical Farming, and create a new impetus for America to export throughout developing nations as well as highly advanced nations.

President Obama is right in declaring war on lobbyists and business as usual, but that’s another war! The only victory that stands before us is the advance on freedom by cultural power, which is simply making life more meaningful. We think because the politicians and media tell us where to think, while innovation surfaces outside the Beltway, in the people.

What is Vertical Farming?

Vertical Farming is urban space farming bringing fresh produce to the local market. Instead of flat field farming, it is about minimal groundspace in an urban area, a high rise structure, that provides local produce, as well as expertise and employment, with little or no damage to the environment, that is, no pesticide, herbicide, pollution run-off, water and land contamination, and a water management concept that recycles.

The sustainable goal is to return earth to more natural landscape and habitat, the kind that can support water cycles, not animal grazing and single crop devastation that abrogates water.

Vertical Farming is the “Prius” of the farming world. The visionary who developed the concept is at Columbia, Dickson Despommier. [www.verticalfarm.com] In a list from the website, these are Despommier’s benefits:

Advantages of Vertical Farming
Year-round crop production; 1 indoor acre is equivalent to 4-6 outdoor acres or more, depending upon the crop (e.g., strawberries: 1 indoor acre = 30 outdoor acres)
No weather-related crop failures due to droughts, floods, pests.
All VF food is grown organically: no herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers.
VF virtually eliminates agricultural runoff by recycling black water.
VF returns farmland to nature, restoring ecosystem functions and services.
VF greatly reduces the incidence of many infectious diseases that are acquired at the agricultural interface.
VF converts black and gray water into potable water by collecting the water of evapotranspiration.
VF adds energy back to the grid via methane generation from composting non-edible parts of plants and animals.
VF dramatically reduces fossil fuel use (no tractors, plows, shipping).
VF converts abandoned urban properties into food production centers.
VF creates sustainable environments for urban centers.
VF creates new employment opportunities.

And, we cannot go to the moon, Mars, or beyond without first learning to farm indoors on earth.
VF may prove to be useful for integrating into refugee camps.
VF offers the promise of measurable economic improvement for tropical and subtropical LDCs. If this should prove to be the case, then VF may be a catalyst in helping to reduce or even reverse the population growth of LDCs as they adopt urban agriculture as a strategy for sustainable food production.
VF could reduce the incidence of armed conflict over natural resources, such as water and land for agriculture.

My proposal is to create a symbol at a marvelous perspective, for people to wonder at, think about, be inspired by sustainable concepts, to visit San Francisco and see a wonder of the world, and for San Franciscans to eat locally, -really locally.

This will not replace flat field farming, but the potential is so great in terms of our food evolution that the time is NOW to examine steps to create a model, as well, join business in the adventure, but above all, the political course must begin to move through the power of a commitment.

Unlike the course of allegiances throughout history, this is not something to die for, rather awkwardly, instead it is something to live for. That is the distinct difference from Inside Beltway thinking, and is a perfect handle for West Coast thinking, specifically, The Governor of California. (I recommend Governor Richardson be brought-in as a bipartisanship development team, uniting our power to innovate with international interests. The Freedom is outside the clutch of central government, the mandate is the future, NOW is the time.

My proposal is to construct that commitment to the future of All Peoples that can carry forth America with a mission, an idea that will give people that Hope and that Change so often bandied about without meaning.

Literally almost flying over the Alcatraz Prison in the shape of a globe, shining within and without, could capture the attention of anybody. Because it produces food, energy with solar power, clean water from drainage, using topsoil from the Walla Walla basin in Washington State, and using California farming and technology expertise, -it would be like flying-off, more thantaking huge steps, to spread seeds of the model throughout the world.

It would be as the next great flight for mankind.

The globe would glow and be a wonder in the world for sustainable objects and vision, and shine greater than the light held by the Statue of Liberty in New York City. Americans would begin to understand their destiny.

No Choice

Stawberry fields in Watsonville CA, are highly poisoned for crop of beautiful fruit.

The clear and present truth of America's future lays in the use of technology and expertise to feed the world, and stop the ruination and despoiling the natural landscape into farm land. If nothing else, the kind of climate change that has become apparent in the west of America, is attributed to the property rights of farming, over-grazing and depletion of aquifer. Water is not from on high nor is it from beneath the earth, but is a circular flow from earth through vegetation and forestation into the sky, and return. The most fundamental balance has been abrogated by exploitation with little hope of salvation.

Water Rights, for farming but not for the Public Good.

The imperative of progress can disallow the continuation of what is in effect. Almost universal in societies all over the world is farming. Soil depletion and the opposite solution of boosting the capability to produce causes fertilizer residue, herbicide and pesticide run-off into waterways, seas, and ocean. We turn a blind eye upon our excesses, and favor those who destroy and cause damage to untold people.

Changing this course that has occupied man since before history is formidable. Yet, the twentieth century has been a period of endings and beginnings. Foremost, the civilization fought the replacement of the horse by gas driven vehicles, and ended for practical purposes the dependence on horses. Oil & gas is another phase, and that too shall end, by the imperative, not of oil depletion, by by replacement and universality. Ideas and theories too are up for grabs, and the mind of mankind can turn on a dime in belief systems. Is it so hard to believe that Mohammed was a warrior, and that Militant Muslims, hundreds of years later, still are occupied by that methodology? No matter how passive the Koran?

We believe in what is, and are skeptical and reject what will be. At the same time, we treat visionaries as entertainment, loving to hear of the fabulous, but mindful that we are pursuing goodness by maintaining belief. The car you see bearing down upon you will hit you, so you better step aside. Open your mind. Believe not in what you are told but what your body tells you, your mind will save you, you are a creator and that next moment of stepping aside, the action, is because you listened to you. Spirituality is what is evident.

The Creative Method

For years, I've watched myself think in creative terms, but to no great achievement, rather an endless tale of ideas that inevitably bump against the hard wall of society's institution. To think in these terms, one must need be skeptical, then dimensional because in order to create a new solution, one of potential, then shuffling the parts around against hierarchy, in a sense anarchy, all parts equal, gives then a potential new vision. That, is dimensional, and not all people think in terms of structure, or architecture, i.e., do you enter a building from the ground level, or from the middle or top level?

Today, the real world is seen in brutal reality, the passage is, not what might be or would be, and not an oasis. Change is traumatic, decisive, complete. The dead are dead, the new day is without the dead, leaving the memory and legacy, but, taking up a new hand of cards. Can we reinterpret the intent, finesse the stakes, or live by the old intent, watch the eroding principal. We see it in hand or through the sources, and the daily reality is seen as spin, what the media would have you believe, usually the facts are expressed brutally, and these become quicksand beneath our feet.

Media's interest is in security, because it is an island of repose, something all need to gain perspective on life. But as Media does not simply inform, only nature does in the search for meaning through science or philosophy or other sources, Media directs attention to destabilizing thoughts, obsessive vernacular, spurious attention to non-productivity, and weakness. Strength comes from doing, proceeding onwards, casting asides doubts, taking-up the challenge.

If you believe media, then it is antithetical to being creative, for that lies in spiritual truth, or that which is evident to you. In Media we live winning or losing or being a variety of emotions through others doing, like sports, or the illusion of actions, in created scenarios. The Bible was the scenario of yesterday, man needs scenarios like food and water, or not just needs, uses them to expand or fill the mind. But the activity of being is doing, and this is an example of finding spiritual truth, taken before and during and after an operation to rehabilitate my damaged hands.

The point is that the impossible is possible, only that we must move out media network thinking, those sources that tell us what we need to think, and think for ourselves. The idea is the idea we are presented everyday of our life, and discard. Sometimes, the creative spirit does just what it is supposed to do, create a new life!

The market truth is that anything must be sold, and to that end it must be acceptable to the understanding of the market. New ideas can be grasped, though it must be the right time, and people are on that kind of a learning track. For example, the great leap from PC-dom, has been made by hand-helds, and ipods, and cell systems (Apple) to what? The future of all that has been. Bringing along society is very much where we are. The world has leaped forward by absolute, nearly, communication, where people are autonomous, nearly, in problem solving (information=Google). In fact, so much so, we wonder at the ineptitude of the world states, and conflict, and differences, but maybe that's a naive American view... but I think, hardly not.

The objective is to free-up old intent, not live by the word, re-interpret the word continuously. The world is dominated by moneyed interests that are governed by bodies that are influenced by the established moneyed interests. Public Good, on the other hand, is in the same boat, floundering in the seas after the last empire has sunk, still breathing, eating, living the old institutions. Bodies simply cannot easily change because of consensus, while money is actually the fuel that drives innovation, and by moneyed interests. Still, the boat lurches and is wobbling because of various other interests, like religion, farming, oil, preservation, any and all things that want it to stay the same because these enjoy power and money, quite simply.

Imagine the energy of a million cars driving around cities at high speeds, and forget that just you are in a car with your life of questions and solutions, your cell, your family, your business, and see that a million cars are about you, streaming with similar thoughts, wonder at it. Have we come so far from hunting? Yes probably, because we think in terms of good, and why are we not so, or how do we get it? Or we think, how good or bad we are individually, and ignore the power of being together. We loved Kings, they could be good or bad and always noble, and now we love Presidents because they can lift us from our indolence, and consumption, fortify our thoughts, or incite our anger, and help us believe the goodness and mercy of the democratic revolution.

Throw your hands down and celebrate being, then beware because you'll come smack-up against the more powerful meaning of old, just past, yesterday's institutional belief systems, like living 'according to the founding fathers.' Nothing is worse for health, and the future, so avoid it, brush it off your shoulder, and survey all that you are and breathe deep the new life, your new life. The communities will not die away, they are constantly re-furnished by humans who fit into the roles as old members die away. Their life is in a society of skeletons, constantly un-reinvented, lived intermediably for the good of nothing except their power in old pharaohs clothing, -mummified.

Creative lives are a balance of old and new, for we are mammals, and grow from families, and give our love and attention to our past in this profound way, but look-out, make sure that the future is your pleasure, your investigation, your answer.

Visions

The world synches in thinks. Yes, the function is clear and everything must fall into line, and work like everything else. Nothing is allowed if it does not work for money. Even charity is a money function. Jesus would be looked upon as an illogic in todays traffic. The public good is second to making money because money, and NOT benefits to society, is a motivator, and because the realm is money. Benefits may play in a political sense, but the law governing it is money.

Innovation and change are allowed if they mean money to someone, mostly to corporations, which is simply the legal function of doing/making for money. After that, there is the insurance concerns, the inevitable loss is protected, and the service then falls into the function of money.

My idea is to build a huge vertical farm over Alcatraz (an island in San Francisco Bay) is based on a Vertical Farm proposal by a visionary professor at Columbia University. Also, in my passion for real estate, mI have a predilection for poisoned property, something seen as having no value (STM, standard mode of thinking) can be recreated. Although Alctraz is under the protection of National Park System, and many will be offended at rhe loss of a prison and fort, I would quickly point-out that The Golden Gate Bridge was built over an historic fort, and that progress must be debated on the highest level for projecting ourselves out of an historical paradigm in the exigencies of the future.

My process is creativity. (Creativity ALWAYS bumps up against the normal view, what it is that most people think and established as a way. The fundamental process of society is to institutionalize, in order for security to be that things don't change. Hence, growth is governed by restraint. See POST after....)

Systems can be constructed to "manufacture" food with little harm to the environment, as contrasted to the decimation of landscape, waters and aquifers, poisoning of fertilizers and herbicides and pesticides, brought-on by flat farming. The current practice has been functioning for thousands of years, and now presses against natural limitations, there is no more land to destroy for crops that may or may not come in.

The fact that the need and the exploitation of land to fill that need is so predominate, and based upon the free access, or low cost, use of land, that it forms an apparent truth, -one that is essentially unquestioned by society. Does over-grazing serve the public, or the farmers, and why does the public suffer the consequences, i.e., bad weather, as if it comes on high, as from God, or another sorce looking down upon mankind.

Rain water comes from the body(earth), not the sky.

Furthermore, there is indication that de-forestation, over grazing, huge land tracts removed from natural vegetation will affect the rainfall, which relies on the circular passage of water through vegetation to the sky, bringing rain, fulfilling the aquifer. If this is not true, then why do crops frequently fail? The natural balance is upset, on a massive scale.

The Public Good in this case is second to the farming concerns, but more so, second to the rigidity of farming practice, as something that cannot be changed except by further ruination of earth and water by overwhelming cataclysm. The Public is given the good of food, hence, all goes for food, and farming. Lost is the symbiosis of man and earth, seen in simpler times as feeding the mouths, now seen as, market grabbing, or commodity manipulation. The elements, -wind, sun, rainwater, support as much as ravage farming. The advantages of hot house farming, enclosed from the elements, far outweigh (in yield versus ruination) the continued exploitation of the Public's good.

America has been a force in the green revolution, resulting in an amazing surge in farming output in the last century to feed the world. Now, by extending our knowledge and power to change how we grow essential foodstuff throughout the world, which now feeds itself by the established practice, America can create new effective ways to grow food, -and, reverse the balance of destroying natural landscape. If rain forest decimation of Brazil is any indication, the world is out of control and will suffer changing weather patterns as a result. Rain is essential to flat field farming, change the body of earth, you change the weather.

My proposal is a creative aspiration. For California to build a model Vertical Farm hemisphere in San Francisco Bay would produce food, using sun and rain and sea breezes, and draw water from drainage from the land nearby, but more than that, it would be an inspirational monument to all who see it. Mankind needs to feed itself, yet flat farming has reached a destructive level. We cannot afford to accommodate ruination out of fear. We need be creative with outr resources.

The Growth of Global Farming would glow in the night, an icon of productivity under the growth design of man's mind. It would be a presence in the day, a radiant symbol of the Future, a sun to human efforts. The yield would be a beginning, of this experiment, and of thousands yet to be built in every city in the world. In the midst of the city, San Francisco, California, in the greatest of all farm states, it will be the lamp of the future, as once held by the Statue of Liberty, and shine upon all the world. The intent of America is now to be committed to show the way for all people to feed themselves.

Seeing the Future

At all times, society runs according to the institution at hand, and in the so-called free press state of democracy, the structure is constantly being undermined to proof the validity. Natural forces play more powerfully than natural disasters, meaning of course, the political currents preponderate even when they steer the boat over the falls. The current paradigm has been in effect for centuries, feeding the people, or flat farming the world into extinction. Now we have a situation that requires surgery, for all health can degenerate into the hands of the cut-throat, where the miracle of life is taken over by the organism in healing the mind. The times need a visionary, and one is at hand. Dickson Despommier

My travels display how my mind works in turning over variables looking for creative answers, so given the hard evidence of the essays in Vertical Farm dot com, I wonder to what degree is the truth. How could so many people be wrong at one time? Does the world really believe that money and wealth are the central protected rights of the few, when so many people are at the edge of night?

I live in Walla Walla, Washington, where floods dumped alluvial soil as deep as six feet in an area one hundred miles square. Treeless, the landscape is farmed for wheat, as purely superficial crop as can be seen for miles and miles. Feeding people is not the issue, commodity grabbing wealth is the only fact, and farmers can count profit years on fingers of one hand.

I traveled to Panama, where the landscape is farmed, but now exploited by northern countries for resort atmosphere. Few places suggest more potential for vertical farms as they are constructing resort towers for the wealthy, and crushing the people from the land.

Most recently, I am in San Francisco, the state that rivals America is scope as an independent food producer, the Governor is nothing short of king or president. But like all things, we must answer to the institution, the flat farmers are supreme in productivity, and also in closing the landscape to extinction.

To Governor Schwarzenegger:

The island of Alcatraz Prison is a perfect site for the construction and modeling of a new era, that is, Vertical Farming. Visionary Dickson Despommier of Columbia University has made an outline of the impending problem of world farming requirements, reducing an area the size of Brazil to flatland farming, on this website,
http://www.verticalfarm.com/
Read the two Essays. He has been publicized, but the time has come for the focusing of intelligence to formulate and model other kinds of farming potential, that is sustainable.

California is of course, the best and worst of farming and subsidiary problems, -water. I request an opportunity to bring Mr. Despommier to meet with the Governor, and discuss the potential for California to be the spawning ground for a technology that will be needed throughout the world, and as well, the benefits which defy the Political State.

The project idea is to build a Verti-sphere over Alcatraz, that is clear to the sun and full of a productivity of food, fired by solar, and fed by water from the sewers of the city. To build something that does not despoil the land, raped the aquifers, create no pollution, and drain no herbicides into the ocean. In short, A NUCLEAR REACTOR without plutonium that does not burn life to embers but gives life a method, and a new beginning.

Preposterous as the mind functions, the potential is to flagrantly build a symbol of the future mid-bay San Francisco, that will illuminate the minds of all who see it, and many will come to see it, and to cast a light over all mankind.

Resolution

Searching for understanding, and trying to get it down as video,

and not words, is the only resolution I have made

in anticipation of another great year, 2009 AD.

Surfing the Future

Commenting on NYTimes opinion: Surfin Bush
"Rich is another columnist who doesn't need to be read to understand. Coagulating anger is simply turning the table the wrong way. Bush is merely a guidepost in Time of changes that had to come as result of a generation of aggressive contemporary living and investing (the smaller sense of an obtuse word for self-interest or greed) fueled by exploitation and coffee. We are the Fools, not Bush, because we fail to recognize the urgency of our needs, feeding a planet. The Times is at the pinnacle of our society in anger manipulation, and a low point in self-realization."
