Elmer's Barn & Antique Mall

One of the amazing things about the State of Maine, and people I'm talking about, not government, is the way they re-use and value discarded and thrown-off items. 50 years ago, everybody here keep their junk in the front yard so others could peruse it as they drove-by. Making a deal was high opera, as two terse forces met over the vaunted item, and still, to this day storytellers here recount the fables of Maine deal-making.

But all that has changed, and most all yard sales are temporary, one or two day events, and junkyards have been relegated to back lots, and businesses like Elmer's Barn, just twenty minutes from the capital in Augusta. A way of life changed as more and more people from away moved into Maine, forcing new zoning laws to clean-up the neighborhoods and keep Mainers from taking everything and anything for profit, as measly as it was.... Formerly Mine was a great vacationland, or hunting lands as men came up from places south, arriving in the night at L.L.Bean's 24/7 hunting store on the way to Moose country or salmon fishing.

Elmer says it best, If you need it, I've got it. And if you think he's joking get down here and check it out. Perhaps more authentic than any art museum in the state, this is it!

Creativity

The Dark Ages were for hundreds of years unchanging. Today change is so rapid because markets demand that we don't stay the same. Cars are the great metaphor of change built into a changing pattern of purchase. Now people have gone outside America for...better built, better operating, and hence, a better status symbol. I'm saying creativity has to have value, -too much creativity is meaningless. Put the ideas in the closet. Stop drinking Starbucks. We're spinning out of control. The essence of creativity demands destruction. Tearing the old way of looking at it to create a new vision of it.

What is the bottomline? A New Value to... Everything!

Now is the Time

Business as usual, and comparisons as usual don't quite draw the conclusions we can believe in. While it is finger pointing at government and business, what's on the minds of the people is the core issue. Not particularly accessible to a critic who can compare the thirties with the eighties, but we are in the 21st century. How people think, work, play and hoard is completely different. Hoarding is the great American pastime. So whatever anybody thinks, lets get the government back to it, -hoarding.
No no no, the time is for a massive re-addressing ourselves to, not the misery our news loves to print, to exporting our wealth and youth and expertise into the far corners of the world. Our pre-eminence demands that. Our gravy is our gift to others. Now is the time.
The curious contradiction we live is our support of Israel, when we live here as states bound to each other. How can we support a two state solution, when clearly we have learned to amalgamate and help-up our brother and sister.
Now is the time to NOT maintain the status quo, but create an America of sixty states, or more. We cannot help ourselves without helping others, in fact, until we become great in joining and gifting other peoples as one, and lose this hoarding mentality, we are nothing.

Conversations While Boating

Listening to tales of corruption and bureaucratic ineffectiveness while boating off Panama City, I thought America might do well if they packaged systems for basic services, to be uniform in the entire world, of licensing automobile and truck drivers. There is such a thing as weaving a better fabric, and the gain would be a compatible and defining of an entire planet with a system that would serve people in efficiency alone. Manufacturing weapon systems, waging police actions, and much more expensive programs would not be eliminated, oh no no no; but working to contrive beneficial systems would encompass all peoples. Such a project would be illuminating.

Creative Now

Versus or along with the past, the foundations of thought and intent, make up the churning cement mix of today, aurgh! Get on with it. Leave those who are stuck where they be. Or, be a missionary.

No, no. The fact is, all people are thinking about the past and the present future. It is perhaps a more psychological threshold than all the academic psych studied today. No decision is without tentacles in the past of one's life whether it be 5 minutes or five years, of fifty.

Now if we can only deal with mis-information, or influence information, infloration to be exact or consolidated.

Peggy Noonan, Obama's Domestic Agenda Gains Clarity

In the context of readers of WSJ, numbers of dollars are the stark reality that burst. I say stark because there is little more brittle than accounting numbers. If you begin and end on that note of dollars, then you are eliminating the human factor, which cannot be valued except in more dollar numbers. President Obama merely represents the diametric opposite way of thinking, yet he encompasses the dollar number mentality, while being aware of an agenda of efforts to be more mindful of human needs. WSJ cannot encompass possibility or potential change, very few people can envision the future, so the best minds in news opinion are stuck on the known measurements. Unfortunately we have mental geniuses who everybody mirrors.

Some might even call the present moment, the word of God to move towards a renewal of intent, the Obama direction, which is perceived as a wall not a way by Republicans, and this intent is a renewal of attitudes that have hard-scraped human potential for years. Bombs are a cheap way to wage a political war, and funnel money into the military industrial complex. Financial greed serves the same end.

That agenda has been attached by the people in the name of Obama, representing more than just entitlements or health care or liberal excesses. It's a funny thing about democracy of the people, the cost of redirecting and focusing on change is worth way more than the trillions of debt batted about by learned critics. The value of Obama and the future is America, in spite of dollar fears and war fears, because the future of growth is beyond the imaginations of news opinion, -it is uncharted, new territory.

We can have rapacious Wall Street, we need it to make steps, but it is over. The trillions do not belong there any longer, LA and the illusion of media is too enticing. WSJ opinion columnists can play to the hot steamy collars of the moneyed greed, but it really doesn't matter anymore. When the payback comes, it will come big time. WSJ will say they wanted it that way, but will be sunk in a tomb of skeptical numbers. The paradigm has shifted, now the clutter must be cleared for a new day.

And later,

April 4th, 2009 11:56 pm
It's time to go forward and change the world, but it's impossible. Security means power and unrelenting obsession for making money. Jesus had it easy 2000 years ago compared to the financial mindset ruling Wall Street, the corporate world, Washington lobby/government dance, secure Americans holding the change down, institutions, and virtually everything, -even the flagrant abuse of farming and the land. What's important? Nobody knows, only that the puzzle is to break it down a little so it can make sense. The gift of America is to give the world democracy and the building blocks for human decency. Good place to start. Teach it, sing it, video it, our culture has great value to give. We are, through Obama, more powerful and rich than the fake trillions everybody talks about day in day out. More potential power emanates from LA because Hollywood is more human, a pyramid of creativity (albeit a sham compared to the real thing) but more than Wall Street ever will be. We might buy/sell shares in movies, and that'd be a better investment than any bunko sold on Wall Street.
